When Medication Has Not Provided Enough Relief
-
Patient inquires on website or phone
-
Staff screen patient: Any implanted metal in body? Seizure disorder history? (these would disqualify patients)
-
Most insurances require 2 to 4 med trials and will be discussed during phone call and consultation
-
Schedule a TMS consultation with Nurse Practitioner (evaluates depression and anxiety symptoms, provides risks/benefits, informed consent)
-
Our TMS coordinator reaches out to the patient after the consult with NP to determine medical necessity; TMS Coordinator does need documentation for: med trials, therapy trials and will call the patient then send records to the insurance company for authorization approval. This process varies by insurance but usually takes under one week

Daily Depression treatment lasts 19 to 23 minutes on left side of head, anxiety treatment is 15 minutes on right side of head. If you have both anxiety and depression (which is so common) people get both treatments at every visit. Insurance only reimburses for depression treatment but we provide anxiety treatment at every visit.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive, outpatient treatment that directs recurring magnetic energy pulses at the specific region (or area) of the brain involved in mood regulation. The painless magnetic pulses pass through the skull and stimulate brain cells which can improve communication between different parts of the brain. When these TMS pulses are delivered at regular intervals it is known as repetitive TMS (or r TMS). Clinical studies have shown that TMS can significantly reduce depressive symptoms in patients who do not respond to traditional treatments.
